Dr. Andrea Lanphear graduated from the UW Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 with interests in nutrition, holistic medicine (such as acupuncture) and animal behavior. Dr. Lanphear is certified in small animal acupuncture from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. She says the best thing about her job is "helping people help their animals live long and happy lives." A love of science, animals and challenges are reasons Dr. Lanphear wanted to become a veterinarian. "I enjoy puzzles and because animals don’t speak English, they present to us with mysteries that need to be solved," she says.
Her Madison home includes two male cats, "Morrissey" and "Garcia," one of whom is diabetic; a female Redbone Coonhound named "Althea" (former research dog from vet school); and two fresh water fish tanks. She enjoys spending time with her family who live nearby. In her free time she likes to participate in outdoor activities like camping and canoeing.
